Career Fairs and EPIC
-
Career fairs help students better understand the field of conservation and what we do at our job. These fairs are meant to help students explore potential careers for their future.
-
EPIC stands for Exploring Potential Interests and Careers. The SCD participates in the EPIC event every year. This event provides engaging, hands-on experiences to students in Central MN helping them discover potential career pathways.

Water Festivals
-
Each year the SCD supports a number of local Water Festivals in the area. These 1 day events offer an opportunity for local 4th grade students to learn about nature and the natural resources we all love and rely on in Stearns County. The water festivals we typically participate in are Three Rivers, Chain of Lakes, Frozen Fest, Middle Sauk, Paynesville, Kimball, Kids to Parks Day, and Avon Lake Day.

Youth Poster Contest
-
The Stearns Conservation District does a Poster Contest in the Spring for students in grades 5th and 6th! Every year, the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) choose a national theme such as soil, water, or habitats that spark creativity and action across the country. The theme inspires hands on lessons, outdoor projects, and community events that help people discover the importance of conservation.
-
One way to celebrate this national theme is through the Poster Contest. Each year, students create posters that reflect the theme to show what conservation means to them. The contest encourages creativity while helping students learn how soil, water, air, plants, and wildlife work together to support life. Winning posters are featured in SCD materials and have the chance to compete at our Area Competition where they could move up the scale to the State and National Competitions to receive additional prizes.
-
