County-Wide

The SCD attended the annual EPIC (Exploring Potential Interests and Careers) event on October 24th, 2025. Over 4,500 students from 30 school districts attended this years event to learn more about career pathways. This was an event for students in grades 9th-10th.

At the SCD booth, our staff discussed conservation careers and provided hands-on demonstrations for the students. Students participated in a soil texturing activity to identify soil types by evaluating the grittiness, smoothness, and stickiness of the three samples. Students could also learn about conservation topics like wildlife, soils, and water through our conservation trivia game. In addition, students were able to access resources and engage with staff to help them understand what working in the conservation field is like.
