Public Information Meeting: Sauk River Dam (Cold Spring) Modification Feasibility Study

The Stearns Conservation District in cooperation with the Minnesota DNR invites the public to learn about the Sauk River Dam at Cold Spring feasibility study. The study will evaluate possible dam modification to a rock arch rapids options that could improve fish passage while maintaining the hydraulic function currently provided by the dam.

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at the Wakefield Township Hall (22295 Frostview Road, Cold Spring, MN 56320).

The meeting will include a presentation with the overview of the feasibility study scope, schedule, and planned evaluation process. In addition, information will be presented on dam modifications, how rock arch rapids function and benefits. The project team will also answer questions and gather input from the public.

Note: This is a feasibility study. No final design has been completed, and construction is not authorized as part of this study.
