The We are Water MN Exhibit
Year Completed:
2024
Major Watershed:
Mississippi River Sartell, County-Wide
The Stearns Conservation District, Mississippi River-Sartell Watershed Partners, and Art in Motion on the Lake Wobegon Trail developed a program to share the importance of water to residents of the Mississippi River-Sartell Watershed and beyond. Together, the partners aimed to strengthen our communities’ knowledge of water issues and deepen the connection to protection of water, soil, wildlife habitat, and natural places.
We Are Water MN is a project of the Minnesota Humanities Center that engages Minnesotans with our state’s most important natural resource through personal stories, historical content, and scientific information. Combining learning and sharing in this way strengthens Minnesotans’ relationships with water and increases participation in water stewardship activities.
The We are Water MN Exhibit was hosted from April 25th-June 16th, 2024 at the Art in Motion on the Lake Wobegon Trail in Holdingford. On May 15th, the partners also hosted a Private Well Water Screening Clinic where private well owners could get their water screened for nitrates and chlorides at no cost. Attendees could choose to stick around and wait for their results or get them emailed. Attendees could also consult with onsite groundwater professionals about the concerns they had with their well water. This was a great opportunity for private well owners to find out if their water was safe to drink while also learning more about water issues and natural resources.
