Major Watershed:
Sauk River
This landowner contacted the Stearns Conservation District because they wanted assistance with their manure storage. The Conservation District and Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) were able to provide technical and financial assistance to help the landowner. The project consisted of a waste storage facility with an earthen manure pit and a stacking slab with a roof structure.
This project helps with waste management and nutrient management along with applying manure at better times of the year. This will help improve the quality of the groundwater and help reduce pollution. In addition, it will help protect nearby water sources like the Sauk River from potential nutrient leaching and runoff.
Components:
Earthen Manure Pit
